7 steps to customize underwear in China.
Women’s underwear market is known as “the last piece of cake in the clothing industry”. Obviously, the underwear industry is still a field with great potential and worth our investment.
You may have held the idea of establishing your own underwear brand for a long time. You may have completed the design of underwear and have made up your mind to enter the underwear industry. But you just don’t know how to turn your ideas and business into reality and how to customize your underwear.

Find a suitable factory
First of all, you should know what type of underwear you want to make, whether it is cotton or nylon. For example, there will be seamless and delicate bras.
Seamless underwear factories usually buy yarns of different fibers and use machines to weave them into cylindrical fabrics. These cylindrical fabrics can be made into various types of seamless underwear through simple manual processing. Because seamless underwear is mostly one-piece and simple in style, the requirements for tailors are relatively low. Therefore, it is difficult for this kind of factory to meet the requirements for exquisite underwear.
While ordinary underwear factories focus on the manual manufacturing process. They usually buy back fabrics and accessories, and workers will cut them into bras by hand. So it needs more experienced tailors. If you need sophisticated underwear styles, this type of factory is a better choice.
Provide your request and get the initial quotation
The next step after the factory is selected is to obtain the quotation. Then you should provide the underwear design to the factory, and they will quote according to the required fabric, accessories and order quantity.
A. Send samples to the factory
If you can provide samples for Chinese suppliers, you can get more accurate prices. Since suppliers can better understand what kind of fabrics and accessories are used and the complexity of the process, they can quote you a more accurate and reasonable price.
B. Provide design drawings to the factory
If you have your own designer, you can design new models. The factory will quote you after estimating the material and labor costs. After the sample is made, you can get the exact price.
Make samples according to your requirements
If you think the initial quotation of the factory is acceptable and reasonable, you can ask the factory to make samples for you, and the factory will charge about US $60 for each sample. Although you need underwear of different sizes, a sample of one size is enough for you to check the sewing technology level of the factory.
In addition, it takes 7-15 days to make samples because the factory needs to find fabrics and accessories. If all the details meet your requirements, you should check the samples. If you have new ideas, you can also modify the design.
Confirm the size and quantity. Place an order
If you are satisfied with the sample and price, Congratulations, you have found the right supplier, and you are closer to the goal. However, before placing an order, you still need to confirm many details with the supplier.
(1)Confirm the measurement of each dimension
You only made a sample of one size during proofing. Now you should measure each size accurately and accurately.
(2)Confirm the quantity of each dimension
The unit price of the same underwear is the same. No matter how much you buy for each size, the unit price depends on the style. However, you should specify how many pieces are purchased for each size, and then write down the number of pieces for each size in the supplier’s purchase contract or invoice.
(3)Confirm accessories list
There are many kinds of underwear accessories, especially bras. It is recommended that the supplier paste all accessories on a list for your confirmation.
(4)Confirm the color of fabric and each accessory
To avoid color difference, you can send the fabric of your desired color to the factory. Or you can ask the factory to send you fabric samples of different colors in a book so that you can choose colors. In addition, you can use Pantone color card for color confirmation.
Pre production samples
After the order is confirmed and the deposit is paid, you can ask the factory to make some trial production samples. The materials of the pre production samples are exactly the same as those of the batch production. The pre production samples should accurately represent the final products you will receive.
It is up to you to determine whether the supplier meets all the standards. You can check the sewing structure, size, fabric and accessory color. Pre production samples must be submitted before mass production so that you have the opportunity to point out any errors or misunderstandings to the supplier.
Start mass production
If you approve the pre production samples, the factory will start mass production.
First, they will dye and dry the fabric, and bring it white. Then the workers will sew the fabric into underwear in the workshop.
The whole production process will last about 30-45 days. This depends on the order arrangement of the factory, because the factory receives orders from other customers. It also depends on the complexity of your desired underwear and the quantity you order.
Therefore, it usually takes 50-70 days from scheduling and purchasing fabrics to completing the whole production. In order to prevent the inventory from being replenished in time, it is recommended to purchase more underwear each time when placing an order, because the entire production cycle of underwear is very long.
Quality inspection and shipment arrangement
It is very important to check the quality before shipping the goods. After the batch production is completed, you can ask the supplier to randomly select some samples and send them to you. If you find there is no problem with the quality, you can find a freight forwarder to arrange shipment.
In addition, if you have a purchasing agent or a third-party quality control agent in China, you can entrust them to help you control the quality. They usually provide services to help you check the quality according to AQL inspection standards to ensure the quality of your goods.
